I love Holgas! (and I love Pax!)

IMG_0147.jpg

In July my boss, Linda bought me a really cool old fashioned toy camera called a Holga. They cost 40 bucks new, and they are amazing, chinsy, plastic little cameras. They take big, 120 mm film and the corners of the prints always have a sort of faded out quality. They have a few manuel settings that may or may not work. The beauty of them is how little control the photographer has over the image. It's like accidental art. I love it. Here's a shot I took of Pax, and one my dad took of me and my three sisters.

Here is the glorious machine. Isn't it a beauty? It even has a knob built in with color filters for the flash. I gotta try that more often. I can flash with red tint, blue tint, or yellow tint.

YES!! I have been deeply in love with Holgas for about a year now! Sadly, I still don't have one. If you do a google image search of holga you will find some incredible pictures that people have taken with their own toy cameras. I love the pic of pax, he's a little hottie! :)

accidental art an oxymoron? ABSOLUTELy not. are we the only makers of art? not at all. god is the highest maker, and we're merely imitating him. art that happens outside of our control is ussually better in my opinion. after all, it's directed by Him.

do you think "accidental art" may be an oxymoron? this is a question that has been goading me for a while now.
